Arachnid Bowl
Some plywood, glue, tools... Oh wait, no glue and no tools! Simply slot the pieces together, and in a couple of minutes the flat cutouts are transformed into a 3D bowl that is perfect for all that nutritious fruit. Mmmm vitamin C. Yum.
One thing of note is that when assembling the bowl, it helps to apply the pressure right on the joint to avoid stressing the material. Once assembled, the bowl is strong, but the individual ribs are fragile on their own.

Something Crafty is Springing Up this Spring
And once more with enthusiasm!
It's been a while, but Wellington's premier uber Craft fair is back! None of this lame, handmade by a blind horse crap you often find at your local school fundraiser. Hoofmade... Craft2.0 has standards. Pretty reasonable standards.
The fair will take place on Saturday, November 3rd, from 10am, in the gallery of St James theatre on Courtenay Place.
It's a great chance to get your Christmas shopping out of the way early or at least get some inspiration for your last minute gift gathering rush later in the year.

Painting Earrings
Making Grimlies more awesome. Yes, "awesome" - everyone's favourite adjective *ahem*
Step1. Lasercut the earrings with the backing paper on. Heavy engraving cuts through the paper.
Step2. Using a fine brush, fill the engraving with India ink or model making paint (I use Tamiya). Make sure that the paint fills all the grooves, but doesn't run off the edges of the cut characters.
Step3. Wait for paint to dry completely and carefully remove the backing paper.
Step4. All ready for the addition of findings!

Giveaway!
One of the many excitements about Craft2.0 is the various giveaways for the shoppers. There are goodie bags, discount coupons and a big prize draw full of all sorts of jewellery, accessories, edibles, craft kits, etc - all made with love. I'll be giving away buttons that can be sewn onto anything your can poke a needle through, and snowflakes that can decorate anything you can hang stuff on.

Craft2.0 Reinvigorated
Craft2.0 is coming back! This is something I'm very excited about. I've even signed up for a stall in hope that my little Carpet Monkey co-operates with a Craft Day Out. The venue is also something to be thrilled about:
The St. James Theatre
in the First Floor Gallery
at 77-87 Courtenay Place, Downtown Wellington
on November 3rd.
